Riccardo Bononi "Miglior Fotografo dell'Anno"

Londra, 24 Aprile 2015, sono stati annunciati i nomi dei fotografi vincitori ai Sony World Photography Awards, il più grande premio internazionale di fotografia al mondo: siamo orgogliosi di annunciare Riccardo Bononi come vincitore del Primo Premio e del Titolo di “Fotografo dell’anno” nella categoria Professionisti, sezione Sport.

Il reportage vincitore, Las Valkyrias de Bolivia, selezionato tra oltre 173.444 immagini provenienti da 171 Paesi nel mondo, è stato realizzato durante un week end libero dalle lezioni nei mesi di ricerca sul campo con Irfoss in Sud America (coordinata dalla dott.ssa Giulia Maria Baldinelli).

Il reportage di Riccardo Bononi sarà pubblicato da Sony ed esposto dal 24 aprile al 10 maggio alla Somerset House, imponente palazzo storico nel cuore di Londra.

Tra i premiati spicca il nome di John Moore (Getty Images), vincitore dell’Iris d’Or 2015 ed Elliot Erwitt (Magnum Photos), che ha ritirato il premio Outstanding Contribution to Photography 2015.

Bolivia is proud of being the Latin American country with the highest number of actively working women. Bolivian women no longer are the subject for the “weaker sex” prejudice, they are rather associated with the outstanding physical stamina, the inclination to struggle and the great brute strength. Then must not be surprising the fact that, in the poorest neighborhood of La Paz (4000 mt), a bunch of female farmers from the countryside get every Sunday on the ring for a public fight. Wearing the traditional cholitas’ (the term originally refers to the indigenous “mixed race” people) clothes and bowlers, Bolivian Valkyries deal with even more demanding fights once they get off the ring, raising their children all by themselves and working between the fields and the urban street markets.
